Blocking acrylic yarn

Ok..Im sure you avid yarnies won't believe this, but today I accomplished my first successful blocking attempt. (I should have taken a picture while it was laid out.) This week's project is another knit ripple purse like the one shown in post "June FOs". I wanted to block it to make it easier to work with in attaching the lining.

I put a towel over a piece of cardboard and using stick pens, pinned the edges of both sides of my acrylic fabric being careful to secure the pin into the cardboard. Then I sprayed the edges with water, put another towel over my fabric and lightly steam ironed over all four edges. I left my fabric pinned to the cardboard and allowed a couple of hours to dry and VOILA!!!!!!!!!! Perfectly blocked and no more curled up edges.

As my fabric was blocking I cut out and stitched my canvas shaping piece. My next step is to attach the lining to the canvas, attach the handle strap, and attach the complete lining inside the purse.

I also want to use this post to say again....."I Love This Yarn"!!!!!!! (see post "yarn shopping")

Family

Im back from Detroit for our annual family reunion. I had a good time seeing people I haven't seen in a long time and also meeting new family members. I was reminded of how important family is. Keeping in touch is imperative to showing love and support especially during difficult times. Family is who you carry in your heart whether blood related or not. Im excited to have been reconnected and better connected to family members last weekend. We all have to same commission in life....that is to love each other. Im getting better at it...how about you?

One more thing......family support is good for business too:-) I sold several one and two pocket wallets(post:Busy,Busy,Busy)and promises for future orders. Thanks Fam!!!!!!!!!!!

Busy, busy, busy

Well, it's June now and Im looking forward to being in Detroit at the end of the month for my family reunion. Right now Im working on items to take with me for sale. So far, Ive made small wallets and clutch purses. The wallets have two pockets for money and all those cards we carry around. The clutch is for those essential small items. There are also one pocket wallets that can be used for coins, cards, etc. Here's a photo \sneek peek...

May FO

This is an oversized baby blanket that I really enjoyed making using my new favorite yarn,"I love this yarn" (see May 6th post). I took liberty of the ripple stitch patten and incorporated triple, double and half double stitches. Lavender and white create a timeless, classic blanket that can be used for years to come and passed down as a family heirloom.

This is also an oversized baby/toddler blanket that Im in love with. I used Lion Brand's Jiffy light pink and white yarns, which gives the blanket a soft, delicate look and feel.
